Description -
The Alabama Gulf Coast is a critical stopover point as migratory birds return from Central and South America. Banding hours are from before dawn to mid-afternoon, depending on the flow of birds. Bring a lawn chair, binoculars and inquisitive mind but leave the pets at home.
Admission: Admission to Fort: $5:00 adults, $3:00 children 6-12, free to younger children. Banding is FREE.

The Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center presents Giant Insects

Description – 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM Giant Insects will feature six oversized animatronic bugs, three giant mechanical insect heads, an insect art gallery and a live insect zoo. The exhibit will give visitors an up-close and personal look at some of life’s tiniest creatures including a Chinese Praying Mantis, a Swallowtail Butterfly Caterpillar, two Rhinoceros Beetles, a Desert Locust and a Stick Insect. The robotic bugs in Giant Insects move mechanically to show their behaviors, such as the locust spreading its wings to take flight. A live bug zoo will also be featured in the exhibition, allowing guests to see the critters at their regular size. There will also be photo opportunities and many other hands-on games and activities including live insect eating contests to win prizes.

Admission: GENERAL ADMISSION (Includes permanent exhibits & Giant Insects) Adults (19-59) – $14.00, Senior (60+) – $12.50, Youth (13-18) – $12.50 Child (2-12) – $12.00, Members – $2.50, Children under the age of 2 are free.

Orange Beach Running Club

Description – The Run Time…..Every Monday rain or shine at 6:00pm. Meet in the southern portion of the Orange Beach Marina parking lot at 5:45pm. Run at 6:00pm. The Course…..We run on the sidewalk down Marina Rd to Orange Beach Blvd. Turn left and run south on Orange Beach Blvd to the turn around. At the turn around, you, well, turn around. Run back to Calypso Joe’s. The distance is about 3 miles. Check out our route. Afterwards…..Calypso Joe’s provides us with discounted beer and free food. Participation is free and open to all runners/walkers/crawlers. We invite all residents and visitors to the Orange Beach, Gulf Shores, Perdido Key, and surrounding areas to come run with us.

27th Annual Interstate Mullet Toss & Gulf Coast’s Greatest Beach Party
